Caroline Dubois’ message to Katie Taylor: Now it’s my turn to come. Fight or give up the belt! | | Boxing news

Caroline Dubois is waiting for her chance to challenge Katie Taylor for the WBC world lightweight championship.

Taylor’s last three fights have all been in undisputed super-lightweight bouts. But it means that the WBC lightweight belt has not been contested for two years.

Dubois has moved up to become the WBC all-time champion at 135lbs and will finally have the right to fight for their world championship. First, Taylor had to decide which division to continue competing in.

“I’m eligible for the belt. Katie has to come back and fight me or give up the belt,” said Dubois. Sky Sports.

“He hasn’t fought for the belt in over a year now. It looks like he’s not going back to 135lbs. So he’s just keeping the belt, stopping me in my tracks and my future and my career, why the goal?

“She has done very well in her career, she fought Amanda Serrano, I’m sure she will want a trilogy, which will be a big money fight. But this will be at 140lbs.

“Then there’s no business even holding on to the belt. Just let me get on with my job and he can get on with his.”

His message to Taylor is: “Now is my time. It’s my time to break through, do the same, be undisputed at 135lbs.”

If Taylor vacates the lightweight title, Dubois would look to beat Rhiannon Dixon, the WBC No 1 contender, in a full-round contest and combine against WBO newcomer Terri Harper next year.

“I want to fight Rhiannon Dixon,” Dubois said. “I’m sure he wants to have the chance to get back into the world championship.

“I don’t think there are many situations where you lose your belt and then in the next fight you get another world title shot. Take it or leave it.

“One more chance for him to redeem himself and become a world champion and if not, then I’ll take a tougher fight.”

Caroline Dubois wants to fight Terri Harper in 2025 and was not happy with her win over Rhiannon Dixon.

Dubois would receive a higher contract with Harper. “Yes,” said Dubois. “That belt is mine, he is still holding it.

“He tried to pull it together as much as he could but he showed his character, which is gone. He’s crumbling under the pressure and I think he wants me to come and take the belt off him and I think that’s what’s going to happen.

“I think they want a payday and a chance to ride off into the sunset.”

Amanda Serrano’s agent, Nakisa Bidarian, identified Dubois as the future opponent of the American star.

“They see my potential. I’m bringing something new to the game,” said Dubois.

“To finally get the belt at 135lbs would be something that I’m sure he would be very excited about. I would give him that opportunity, I would give him that shot if he was willing to take it.

“People want to mock me because I’m not in the big league, I haven’t reached, I’ve earned, I don’t have an international championship and I haven’t participated in, let’s say, a big fight.

“But in terms of skill, skill, line, in terms of everything I’m there. I believe I’m there.”
