American psychologist Abraham Maslo’s A Theory of Human Inspiration is a classic of psychological research that helped change the field for good. Many fields – like a strong thinkers, Maslo was not only a talented researcher, he was also a creative thinker – capable of looking at things from a new perspective and showing them in a different light. He studied what he called exemplary examples such as Albert Einstein, Jane Adams, Allenor Roosevelt and Frederick Douglas instead of mentally ill or deranged people.
Maslo generated new ideas, which he called “positive” or “humanitarian psychology”. His argument was that humans are inspired by a series of psychologically hierarchical needs, which begin with the first most essential. Their principles parallel to many other principles of human developmental psychology, some of which focus on describing the stages of development in humans.
