
Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood has also been ruled out of the second Test against India in Adelaide as players call up Sean Abbott and Brendan Doggett.
Hazlewood suffered a “left hamstring” injury but will remain with the squad for the next five games.
The 33-year-old took five wickets in the first Test in Perth, including four innings and four, as Australia lost by 295 runs in four days.
Scott Boland is Hazlewood’s replacement in the afternoon at Adelaide Oval from December 6 as first-team manager.
Abbott played 46 white-ball matches for Australia (26 one-day internationals and 20 T20 internationals) but did not play a Test, while Doggett did not play an international match.
Abbott has taken 261 wickets in 87 matches, Doggett has taken 142 wickets in 40 matches.
Australia had already called up Beau Webster as cover for Mitchell Marsh, after he suffered a serious injury after bowling 17 overs in the first Test.
